Apparently I didn't read it the same way you did. I read that as he made a joke about a situation he had nothing to do with, but that an outsider might have made a wrong assumption about.

His joke was indeed tactless, but certainly understandable.

I don't defend the behavior of others or condemn it in this instance- it's merely rude humor over an incident long passed. I've seen far more offensive things posted on here and especially on the main board, to say nothing of /talk.

Besides which, I've met the Professor and have gotten to know him, and know that he is not a malicious sort. At the very least I give him the benefit of doubt.
