There are no vanilla, ordinary people!Because, if there were, one of them would be the most ordinary of the lot. This would instantly mark him out as special - he's Mr Ordinary! So we pick him out from the ordinary masses and add him to the AMAZING SPECIAL PEOPLE pile.
With him no longer ordinary, the next-most-ordinary person becomes the most ordinary, catapaulting him too to fame and stardom! And with a zzzzzzzzip-like sound of inductive reasoning, every last ordinary person gets picked off the pile one by one, leaving no-one in the ordinary pile, and everyone interesting.
