This is a question DIY Techno-hacks

Old hard drive platters make wonderfully good drinks coasters - they look dead smart and expensive and you've stopped people reading your old data into the bargain.

Have you taped all your remotes together, peep-show-style? Have you wired your doorbell to the toilet? What enterprising DIY have you done with technology?

Extra points for using sellotape rather than solder.

that would require thinking about it another time though
it's one of those things where as soon as it has happened it is forgotten.

I hate the Windows noises
The first thing I do on a new XP installation is set sounds to 'none'

The interminable click whenever you do something in Explorer drives me up the wall.

I'm the same
not just computers either. anything that makes a noise gets turned off. mobile phones in particular. Even to the point where my phone is never off silent.

I don't need to turn off my phone noises...
...because no one ever calls me.
