DIY Techno-hacks
Old hard drive platters make wonderfully good drinks coasters - they look dead smart and expensive and you've stopped people reading your old data into the bargain.
Have you taped all your remotes together, peep-show-style? Have you wired your doorbell to the toilet? What enterprising DIY have you done with technology?
Extra points for using sellotape rather than solder.

I Used To Have A Boat
and I had several mobile phones ruined due to an unexpected wave or a splash of water. They unerringly headed for the pocket I kept my phone in and slat water is death to phones.
Then I hit on a high-tech solution. I used a plastic tupperware box to keep my phone in when on the boat. Sorted.
It also doubled as a small floatation aid. The plan was, if the boat sunk, then the plastic box would float to the top, hopefully along with me, and I could grab it, open the box and call the coastguard.
Cheers

Did you sea what I did there?
Deliberate typo to get a response.
Fucking useless spellchecker. I need a spell and context checker. But I'd just end up arguing with it...

Slat water
I just read as "water what lives under the slats at the bottom of the boat" and thought I'd learnt a new nautical expression. Now, mildly disappointed, I have to go and find something else to learn.

Tupperwear box = sandwiches, usually, right ?
I also (well, my dad more precisely) used to have a boat. And like you I kept my moby in a tupperware box. And my sarnies in another.
When the phone rang and I grabbed the wrong box and tried to answer my sandwiches, it was only funny the first time around. ;)

Titanic
Didn't a guy on the Titanic do the same? He however sunk to the bottom far quicker than everyone else.

Mmmmm Tupperware????
I have recollection of a similar tale, conveyed to myself some years ago. Prey tell, for the benefit of chronological order, did the said box "burp" or "whisper"?
I sincerely trust that your vessel was wind powered and had nothing, whatsoever, to do with this new-fangled steam.
