A friend of mine spent a fortuneon a posh hotel's package deal in Cornwall. It pissed down on him continuously for the whole eclipse.
I spent thirty quid on a return on the ferry to Cherbourg and saw the whole thing perfectly. For the money, it was a steal.

If I lived near a port I may have done that.But a train to the port plus the ferry would have cost more than the car hire, fuel and a few snacky meals.
I'm glad we slept in the car though as I would have hated to have spent a lot to not see the eclipse.
