personally...i use a genuine single blade Safety Razor tm what my grandad bought my dad when my dad turned 16.
i use Palmolive tm shaving soap and a badger brush i got in Germany about 15 years ago.
when i'm feeling frisky i use a straight razor a retiring barber gave me one day when i was surveying his shop prior to it being put on the market about 20 years ago.
i whole-heartedly concur with stropping the blade on yer own skin but i find one blade is ample for me.
having said that, i never shave in the morning or if i'm in a hurry.
i like to take my time over it.

Big up the badger brushCertainly stops the rash, my daddy never taught me how to shave so I had to work it out for myself :-(
