Last time I had phoneline broadband in the UK it was terriblebecame pretty much unusable in the early evening, cable broadband doesn't suffer from that, though VM's traffic management is a bit poo for the pirate-y types.

I've not had problems with virgin cable for my perfectly legal downloads...had some issues with the tv recently which resulted in several phone calls and engineers coming out to sort.
I never had to wait to speak to someone on the phone and the engineers came out on a day and time that suited me, were prompt and have sorted the problem.
I was shocked.
