How an overdraft works
If you don't have a student account, you are charged interest as soon as you go overdrawn. This is assuming you have an agreed overdraft. If you don't, there is a fee for overdrawing in the first place.
He'd have been charged. It also would have gone on his credit history.
You're calling him a tightwad because he had basic financial sense while you couldn't even remember to pick up the right bank card before you got pissed.
