A couple of excellent books there.First read Foucault's Pendulum in the early 1990s, and still go back to it occasionally. Absolutely beautiful, if a little heavy going.
Got the Illuminatus! Trilogy far too late, three or four years ago. Thoroughly enjoyed them though.

Too true about Foucault's PIt took me half the book to get into it, and the other half enjoying it.
Try Baudolino, that book was awesome.
