This is a question Conspiracy theory nutters

I keep getting collared by a bloke who says that the war in Afghanistan is a cover for our Illuminati Freemason Shapeshifting Lizard masters to corner the market in mind-bending drugs. "It's true," he says, "I heard it on TalkSport". Tell us your stories of encounters with tinfoil hatters.

Thanks to Davros' Granddad

Fail.

I'm a research microbiologist. I fit the criteria above.

I'm shitting myself, but that's normal.

The above list has done the rounds for some time and is debunked as follows:

A)it defines microbiologist very loosely - from doctors, through chemists, vets, researchers in other fields. This opens up the field massively.

B)Even if you limited it to actual proper microbiologists, it's still a lot of people - the American Society for Microbiology has over 43,000 members.

We're talking probably a few million people who will certainly die - one day. Of that, a few thousand perhaps will die in any given year.

No shite Sherlock.

Some of the dead people will be dead because of murky circumstances (e.g. David Kelly, Victor Paschenik). Some will actually die of accidents or natural causes (e.g. Richard Shope or Michael Perich). Because a very few work with dangerous pathogens, they are at much greater risk of catching them. Anno domini gets us all.
