This is a question My most treasured possession

What's your most treasured possession? What would you rescue from a fire (be it for sentimental or purely financial reasons)?

My Great-Uncle left me his visitors book which along with boring people like the Queen and Harold Wilson has Spike Milligan's signature in it. It's all loopy.

Either that or my Grandfather's swords.

I'm a bit concerned about that.
When we had new windows fitted to our (little, one bedroom) old house, we were told that building regs dictated that one of our windows must open enough to provide an escape route in case of fire. Good idea thought I. I'd hate to choose between frying in my bedroom or cutting myself to ribbons by breaking a window in order to jump out (and probably break my legs on landing, knowing my luck!)

We moved into a bungalow (one storey house for you 'merkins). Woohoo, no more fears about a death defying leap from the flames. That is except one external door is on the front of my house and the other is on the side. None of the bedroom or bathroom windows are climb-out-able unless you smash out the big bits. If we have a fire in the living room or kitchen (where else would it be?) we're fucked.
