This is a question Unemployed

I was Mordred writes, "I've been out of work for a while now... however, every cloud must have a silver lining. Tell us your stories of the upside to unemployment."

You can tell us about the unexpected downsides too if you want.

Yes, be careful.
Getting paid on time is just about the least you should EXPECT from ANY job. As a company, you can fuck your suppliers' invoices off for a while, your bank's, your landlord's, your wife's but NEVER your staff wages.

Not being able to trust your wages to be regular can undermine your entire life. It forces YOU to play the game of putting off bills and debts 'until the cheque clears'.

If it was me, and it happened on one payment, I'd let it pass as long as I got a reasonable explanation. If it happenned again, I'd probably get up and walk out there and then and save myself 6 months of nail-biting misery.

My advice: confront the boss and demand reassurance. You have every right to feel deeply concerned and personally inconvenienced. If he values you at all he will share those concerns. At the end of the day, he needs his staff.
