A famous (and probably apocryphal) story from CambridgeKing's College chapel has a high tower and one night, some cleverclogs scaled it and painted a big clock on the front (yes - a clock).
The fun part of the story is that they did it so well, no one noticed for several weeks until one of the porters looked up and happened to notice it had 'stopped'.
