Pooflake says: Tell us your stories of conflict. From the pettiest row that got out of hand, through full blown battles involving mass brawls and destruction to your real war / army stories.

My Granddad was on the beaches at Normandy.
Amid the sound of the sea and the screams and cries of those around him, he used his bayonet to gut three Germans. He watched as their blood spilled over the sand, giving the water a pink tinge before it washed out to sea again, these three guys screaming all the while, desperately trying to hold their intestines in.
But as this was a SAGA holiday last year, they gave him a life sentence.

Political correctness gone mad.
I hope the Daily Mail takes up his cause.

Given the Daily Mail's open support of Oswald Mosley and the Blackshirts back in the day, they'd probably have fought for the other lot.

My grandad died at Belsen.
No, he didn't fall out of a guard tower. He was Jewish and died of dysentery.

Christ,
I was reading about how when they reached Belsen the first few troops gave soem food to the inmates. Their systems were so badly abused that they died after eating even small amounts. Luckily there was a doctor present who had dealt with famine victims before and made up this concoction that made the medics physically sick to prepare (it smelt awful, by all accounts), but saved most of the remaining inmates.
