I was really expecting a terrible pun at the end...since "went out with Velma from Scooby Doo" was such an obvious set-up.
Congratulations! Rather than convincing us it was a real story, with a surprise pun, you've invented the "anti-shaggy-dog-story" ("shaved dog story"?) -- convince us it was a pun, then surprise us with a real story.
