This is a question The B3TA Detective Agency

Universalpsykopath tugs our coat and says: Tell us about your feats of deduction and the little mysteries you've solved. Alternatively, tell us about the simple, everyday things that mystified you for far too long.

Detective Get Your Own Shit Back.
Paying the kids who hung round the Maroubra streets day and night to tell me where my stolen motorbike ended up - scored it back only with ignition damage and $20 between the kiddlywinks.

When some poo muncher in Canberra stole my camera to inject it into his arm, I interrupted the fucker trying to sell it at a secondhand shop when I just happened to call said shop at the same time to look out for it. Shop called police, he was arrested and later found to have had $40,000 worth of the hot stuff after a robbery spree - scored it back with completed film roll still in it. Wanker.

Yup. Cashies used to hate it when I went in for my weekly
"perusals" after we'd got broken into for the 2nd then third time. They left me to it when I told them I was looking for my stolen shit that 1 of their scumbag, junky clientele had hocked for a hit. Loudly.
Little pricks used to wait at least 6 weeks between breaks before a return visit (sadly we were both working shifts & fulltime) - strangely the neighbours didn't give a shit until they got hit...

There is nothing like have a pre-robbed cupboard to make arsehole robbers go to your neighbours...

Scary bit was coming home having picked up the sprog from the monster in law's.
And I'm pretty sure I disturbed them. Ran back, locked bub in the car (luckily asleep in the baby-seat) and went to survey the damage.
Stupid fucking idiots had ripped the security screen door out of it's tracks & then put a brick thru the glass sliding door. Right next to the same sized uncovered glass window... The only thing to have got thru that after it was fixed was the dog running at full pelt - & she came off second best!
Like I said the neighbours failed to hear this cacophony. Oh but they were round like a shot asking about what the cops had said and done after they got b&e'd a while later (our place was pretty much impregnable after that).

something similar here
was at a mate's house about a week after my aunt had been burgled. one of the local smackrats knocked at the door, trying to sell a video recorder(yes, it was a long time ago) that looked very familiar. "let me have a look at that" says i, grabbing it off him. there, on the back, is my aunt's name in indelible ink. she got her video back, but unfortunately, the police did absolutely fuck all about it as he said he'd "found" the video in an alleyway behind my aunt's house.
fuckers.

You should have helped him to find a kick up the arse.

I've read this a couple of times now,
and I still can't find the part where you enact a little vigilante justice.

You should get someone to loan you a Honda Accord.

If you don't like having your stuff stolen, why don't you take better precautions to safeguard it in the first place?

Not all of us can afford state-of-the-art security systems.
& for those of us who can there are always going to be people like the ones talked about in this thread.
So your story is no-one ever has taken anything of yours without your permission?

If you can't afford security you're being very irresponsible.
Should the police really be responsible for your ineptitude?

Just cause the junky-scum hordes can't climb your ivory tower.

I heard of a family that got burgled multiple times, so they got a guard dog. The next time, they stole the dog.
