My Mum is 79and a few years ago she joined the local pensioners' gym. Y'know, armchairs that gently exercise your legs up and down, and so on.
She still goes several times a week and has a great time. Not everyone who goes is old and they all have a laugh together. Perhaps your mother'd like it?

Nice in theory, but wouldn't work in practiceShe lives almost opposite the town leisure centre but hasn't ever been inside.
