plasma screens don't have pixels...
... so checking for dead ones was a complete waste of time. Only LCD screens can have dead pixels.

Not strictly true.
They do have pixels and very rarely dead ones, it's just that it's far more common as part of the build process on an LCD.
Was worth checking anyway!
