Well
One is what could have happened and the other is what was likely to have happened.
Albiet I was at work until just ebfore the mayorship was announced, so I don't know how tight it was.
But, there exists a possibility, however small, that the UKIP candidate could have won.
The insertion fo the word "reasonable" brings it to a two-horse race, which it was, but the chance, however slim, did exist at one point, of there being a mayor that you dislike even more.
I mean, every election time, the local politicians of most parties urge us to vote anyone BUT the BNP. Even theya re concerned that, however small the chance is, they could get in.
I suppose it's a bit like asking if you are OK when you get kicked in the balls, but things can always be worse.
being very right-wing, I was mildly happy, but not over the moon myself.

Theory and practise are two different things
Like the current "Jihad", for example.
It's illegal by Shari law and therefore not a Jihad.
yet there is fighting.
now those who are fighting are claiming to support Islam, but actually aren;t Muslims.
Many people disgared how things work in favour of how they are and vice-versa.

I am not intelligent enough to actually have a stance on it
From what i know it was illegal (at least, George W. Bush declared war without congress, which is unconstitutional, but most presidents break that document willy-nilly anyway).
As far as I know they weren't a threat to us and it seems to be less stable now. However, it must be a blessing for the Kurds that Sadaam was disposed.
I don't actually care much about war, as far as I see it, war is eternal and unstoppable.
Morally I am not against it, but it seems to have been an impractical, illegal affair that has been a waste of our resources.
I do remember hearing that war was good for the economy, but the CIA world factbook says that America is the country most in defecit followed by the UK.

Bless. You really don't see what I'm doing and I actually feel
quite cruel now.

My apologise
I am slightly tipsy and just didn't want to give you one big block.
As for me being an arse, I have went for drinks with people who did previously hate me on the internet and apparently I am much more likeable in person.
I can be irritating at times, but who can't?
