I'm running:
Nod32
Ad-Aware SE Professional
Spyware Doctor
also have Spybot and Noadware as back ups

also run the excellent Windows AdvancedCare regularly, and no spyware shows up on any of these

go to a command prompt and type in
netstat > C:netstat.txt

then find C:\netstat.txt, open it up and paste all that into a GAZ

I wish I could, I enter that code and a screen flashes for about 2 seconds before closing itself down.
none of the programs I mention above seem to detect anything wrong elsewhere, and the machine still works like a dream elsewhere. It appears to be a problem just happening today.

I have no knowledge of the inner workings of these things, so don't know what I can do about the javascript issue, which appears to be causing the problem

ahhh right
you have definitely caught a nasty from somewhere, no matter what your antivirus is telling you

update all your virus definitions, try restarting in safe mode, do a full virus scan and see if that shifts it
