Thing is, all the music that you are deriding as modern wank
is heavily influenced by Nu-Wave, electropop and late punk music.

It has its place. There would be no point in it if people of my generation 'understood' the music. Where would the rebellion come from?

there's seldom anything completely original, that would be rubbish. even the folk reinventing time signatures and playing weird tuning scales have to offer a frame of reference to the listener. there's always just enough diversity for everyone to believe that the golden era of music really did happen in their own generation
