or does anyone else not "get" modern music? We had Radio 1 on in work today and the amount of shit that was on was incredible! Stuff like the Ting Tings, Flobots, Black Kids (name of a band, I'm no racist!) etc seem to produce the nothing but whiney wank! Now I'm 19 and what some of you may consider a "hip yound thing" but I find this stuff insufferable! Give me Stevie Wonder or Zeppelin any day!

Normally, when listening to music, you're able to choose from all the music ever created ever.
Radio 1 has to play new music, so it has much less music to choose from, so some of the music is likely to be not very good.
Also, some people like music that other people don't like.

Also, age doesn't define what music you like.

and you're absolutely right! I find XFM slightly more palatable than radio one, they play some good older stuff sometimes, but I fear that the golden days of music are fading..

there's the occasional gem in the charts, but it's often buried under a lot of cruft
but then again, that's always been the case. it's much easier to get musical recommendations from clubs and friends whose taste you respect
