When I worked in insurance broking years ago, one of the MDs told me about the Kidnap & Ransom annual newsletter
It's basically a list of the horrible shit they're doing to kidnap victims around the world.

He informed me that in the phillipines if kidnappers think the family/company are fucking them around, they video themselves blowtorching out the victim's eyes and then send the videotape to the family.

I was actually nearly sick when I was told that, I wasn't very desensitized then.

When I saw hostel a year later I nearly threw up again.
