If we were caught out of uniform, even going home,
we would get 3 strokes of a lether strap to our arses. Even a crooked tie would get you one good hard whack with it. It was nicknamed 'The Snake' for some reason.

The funny thing was that
our school suddenly closed down without warning one Summer holliday. It turned out the head didn't have any qualifications (he owned the school) and was bumming some of the weaker kids. I had to do my final year at a very tough comprehensive school and left the day I was old enough.
