I've just installed Spotify
have it going to my stereo wirelessly via a bit of software called Airfoil. Then I've put in a ruby script that mutes it when the adverts kick in.

Not bad really.

If you mute spotify when the adverts are on, spotify pauses the advert till you put the volume back up.

technically the script doesn't mute it
it just switches the audio output source to one that isn't in use, this is done via another bit of kit called Soundflower (which creates the dummy output things) and a switching script.
