You'd be surprised by the number of people feeling like that
Retraining isn't such a bad idea, I'm hearing from lots of people doing that kind of thing

If it's any consolation I'm supposed to have a Training Contract lined up with a firm already, and there's a severe drought of that going on, shitloads of firms are downsizing. After 5 years in higher education I'll still be doing something menial :(

It's not a bad idea, for the long term,
but it takes time, and money, and I kind of want a job now, really. Time doesn't grow on trees.
