The problem with gold and silver effect shoesis that they look brillz for about 30 minutes, then as soon as they sniff the outside world, they start to crack and fall apart. My mate had a pair of silver shoes when he was going through a Marc Bolan phase, and it looked like he had kicked a few pixies to death by the end of it.
