Why bother?
I had to talk to a guy the other day who had a seven hundred frame .GIF on his website homepage. it was about eight MB. The page as a whole was nearly 18MB. I did a bit of maths afterwards and worked out that it'd take nearly 35 minutes to load it on a dialup connection.

Every time somebody loaded the page it cost him 4p.
I refreshed it a few times and got my colleagues to do the same.

And even then, you'd probably lose the connection partway through and have to start again.
