All I have as yet worked out is that word press will let me choose a 'theme' pre-determined by someone else
and you can then change text and move things on the page.
and without learning a little bit of code, that's it

You can make wordpress look and run however you want, but you're going to have to learn code to do it, quite a few bits of code... or get/pay someone you know to do so.
