You've hit upon an accidental truth there.
The 45% who supported independence (in 2014) certainly do think of themselves as Scotland, in its entirety. And if you reckon they don't have an equally misguided ingrained sense of superiority, you've been out of Scotland for too long.

I read that BoJo is considering giving non-resident Scots the right to vote in an IndyRef2, in the hope that they'll vote No, because living in England/Wales/NI obvs means they truly value the Union.
I'm not so sure he won't end up with egg on his face if he follows through on that.
