Because they look the same so if you swapped their heads around one onto the other and vice versa then nobody would be able to tell because they wouldn't look any different unless that is the joke and it'd only be funny for the person who did it because they would be the only person that would know the heads had been swapped around because everybody else couldn't see it because they look the same.

The moment when it becomes obvious to a theatre full of people that Kane's losing his grip on his control over public opinion.

before I picked up the DVD. There is an anti-Citizen Kane backlash movement, but I think it's a spectacularly fine film, and highly recommend it.

surprisingly i've only ever seen a bit of it once on tv, i thought it would be shown more given it's notoriety.

As far as I can tell the point of the film is people making something from nothing (Rosebud) and as a result of that, the real world has decided to also make something from nothing by constantly trying to work out what Rosebud means exactly... Seems to me that Welles' little cryptic joke worked quite well.

I had always assumed this gif was Simon Pegg in some film I'd never seen.

It's a perfectly adequate film, and enjoyable enough, but doesn't deserve the Emperor's New Movie plaudits heaped upon it.
Film students like to wank each other senseless over it because it shows ceilings, which means the camera was pointed in a direction other than straight ahead at head height. Apparently this is important for some reason known only to the aforementioned masturbatory film students.

That may be part of the joke that I'm not getting, but looks an awful lot like M. Pegg.

I didn't know it was a regular gif, I thought he'd taken the clip and somehow looped it to be utterly seamless.
