James Corden has just been making "jokes" about it all twitter.com/wilnetteo/status/919341888792158210

Oh, wow.
I never understood his success...
I imagine there are some comedians who could get away with that... but few whatever he is could.

Dunno. Maybe still a chance for a knighthood?

"You know, um, it's one thing about this movie - and I think it's a big personal cause with Benedict - is one of the... Winston Churchill called him ' the greatest hero of World War Two', and instead he was persecuted for his sexual belief. And he was pardoned. It just seems so odd to Benedict and myself that you pardon a great hero, as opposed to honoring him, and I think that you should be posthumously honoring him."

Seems about right.
It's a joke that doesn't even make much sense if you try and unpack it. Beyond LOLEDGY there really seems to be no deeper intent or meaning to it. I'd assume the whole speech was full of similar attempts at shock in place of jokes, and this one was cherry picked for maximum Twitter fury.
James Cordon trying to be edgy is cringe-worthy, and worth taking the piss out of for that, but I don't really get the anger about it.

I think the part of the problem is these comedy roasts they have these days
People can no longer tell the difference between material with genuine satirical intent and cosy, contrived back-slapping

I reckon he flubbed it
was meant to be
"he wanted to come *here* tonight"
so the 'but any plant pot will do' or whatever, actually makes sense.

JC, a solid lower tier beta male with no perceptible talent
...worming his way around people to the top. Bound to happen because his MO relies on recognising power structures and knowing the prevailing wind. His self-flagellation repair job will be amusing to witness.

Hollywood's casting coach, that has been joked about and referenced for over 90 years is actually a real thing!?
This is my surprised face.

Exactly - not saying it's right, but why is there such outrage at Weinstein
when the current President of the US has publicly boasted about his predatory sexual behaviour, and there have been absolutely no repercussions for Trump?

The clue might be in the phrase "the current President of the US"

Yes, I am sure I have read articles about Weinstein way back
It seemed to be an open secret but most of the press, like the industry, stayed away. Maybe I saw it in Spy or Private Eye...
