So if /talk tells us to piss off back to the QOTW
does that mean we get to return the favor if they're in here? Or should we just be fluffeh and add them to our already swelling Ignore lists?
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 14:55, 66 replies, latest was 1 year ago)
I vote for being fluffeh
but then I only do confrontation in real life, not on teh interwebs.
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 14:59, Reply)
Let's hope they just never find out about it
Like when you find a nice alternative drinking hole and adopt it as your own, you pray the Chavs never discover it's there.
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:00, Reply)
I think that considering the age group of qotw is usually older and wiser.
We should just ignore like the responsible adults that we are.
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:07, Reply)
Hmmmm
Could this turn into a virtual 'gated community' for oldies, where "No Balls Games" and "Keep off the frigging Grass" or "Turn that bloody music down" signs abound.

Hope so!!!
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:07, Reply)
*sigh* Yeah, I know.
It would just be more satisfying somehow to give them their own clap...
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:08, Reply)
Dammit I'm only 23
Does that mean I'm not allowed to play with the big ones?
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:10, Reply)
We don't mind a bit of piss taking and general ribbing.
But some people can take it too far. It becomes downright rudeness and ignorance and that is the thin edge of the wedge.

*folds arms and scowls*

Edit - it's nothing to do with age Kitty. It's to do with being friendly and generally being a good egg.
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:11, Reply)
Not at all.
Anyone's welcome as long as they can behave. We just tend to be an older group who prefers teh fluffeh over twatbadgery.
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:11, Reply)
Kitty
youthful is as youthful does.

You stay here with the nice elderly people, lovey. You don't mind the odd farting episode I hope?

*pffffft*
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:11, Reply)
I'm only 24 you know
...and look how much I've already failed to achieve.

or was that someone else?

Anyway, anyone is welcome as long as they wipe their feet first.
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:14, Reply)
I'm all for Talk folks on here...
... as long as they've got a decent story to tell. Quite a few of them do.

Having said that, this week has been the low point of b3ta for me. We've had some needless sniping and I must confess that I rose to the bait and took someone to task. I hate confrontation, it's not something I like to do anywhere, lest of all on a site where I post my innermost so to speak.

(edit)

Doesn't matter a jot about your age, if you post a story that strikes a chord, most of us will click and comment. Have a go, we're a fluffy bunch.
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:14, Reply)
Ahem!
Just ignore us if we start to talk about the war : )
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:15, Reply)
I'm old!
And I love old people!

PJM, I gathered you had, but I think it was understandable.

Things should get better now.
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:15, Reply)
Sweet
Now I can put "Voluntary work with the elderly" on my CV
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:16, Reply)
@Al
I'd like to join you rubbing up against TRL if that's ok.
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:16, Reply)
Eeeee, Kitty luv,
Could you fetch me slippers before you stick the kettle on? There's a dear.

NO! Not them ones, the fluffeh ones please?
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:18, Reply)
@Al
Only if you are.
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:19, Reply)
Al and BGB
When I meet TRL next month, shall I take along some of your drool* in a jar for him?

*or whatever
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:19, Reply)
*strips naked and rushes to join al, BGB and TRL*
.
*regrets lack of nipple piercings*

*actually, no. Is glad of no piercings*
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:20, Reply)
Hey Che!
You're only 24, you should be helping me! I'll get the tea, you can start the sponge baths.
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:21, Reply)
Ooooh sponge baths
*waves*

me first, me first
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:22, Reply)
Is that "Sponge"...
...as in "cake"?
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:22, Reply)
Whoops,
When I say 24, that MAY have been down to dyslexia mixed with fingers slipping on the keyboard.

But, depending on who's going in the spongebath...I may be able to help you there.

[rolls up sleeves, dons plastic apron with amusing picture of lady in underwear on it]
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:24, Reply)
Grr
I just ventured onto /talk to see if it was as bad as everyone says and immediately got told to"shut up you dick".

Fingers considerably burnt.

/qotw I'll never leave you again!!
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:25, Reply)
@Al
I still enjoy pushing people into hedges when they least expect it. Makes me laugh that does.
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:25, Reply)
*is disappointed that Che isn't 24 any more*
*wonders whether to accept a sponge bath or not*

well, actually, it's the best offer I've had all day.

*strips off*
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:26, Reply)
Jesus Kitty.
You had to go and look, didn't you. You couldn't just take our word for it.
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:27, Reply)
Never mind Kitty
I've got a nice cool sponge.

Bring your fingers over here and I'll see what I can do.
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:27, Reply)
Right then TWW
Let's have a look at you...

Wow.

Might need a loofer as well.

Here goes.
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:28, Reply)
I suspect
that some of /talk took a look over here and felt insulted.

Might be wrong, though.

*looking around*

Damn, things are getting close in here... I kinda like it.
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:29, Reply)
*climbs out the bath, clutching remaining dignity*
*remembers that dignity was in fact left at the maternity hospital many years ago*

*jumps back into bath*

I know, I know, I should listen to my elders!!
But I thought "I'm well ard, I can take some /talk based japery"

but now I feel sad and shouted at. They're mean. And quite unimaginative.
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:33, Reply)
An even better trick
is to walk alongside someone as you pass beneath a small tree when it's been raining or snowing recently. You kick the tree and sprint forward so it all falls on the other person.

It works best with fresh snow. In forestry school we referred to them as "idiot makers".

(as opposed to the widow maker.)
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:33, Reply)
Damn she's slippery
Better get the giant sponge hands on...

Funny.

I don't remember putting all these rubber ducks in here.

Looks round....
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:33, Reply)
I've just had a look on /talk.
It's like the verbal equivelant of feeding time at the zoo.
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:38, Reply)
@TRL
This is Britain. We don't get that much snow anymore : (
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:40, Reply)
@Al
I don't need an excuse.
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:43, Reply)
/talk
wicca'd witch posted a really rude reply to the lovely madam marlboro, saying something like:

"this is /talk. this is what we do. those who can take it become one of us. those who can't, can fuck off".

only "she" didn't even put it that well. most of them are really nice, it's just the odd little clique that thinks they are great.

oh dear. oh dear. oh dear.
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:43, Reply)
@bgb
the sledging in tod used to be outstanding. gah to global warming!
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:44, Reply)
It surprised me a little!
Although perhaps I should be impressed that my mere one-sentence musing has prompted such an onslaught of ranting and raving. It's a shame that not one answer raised a smile, they're rather an unfunny bunch.

For Family Guy fan(atic)s: It reminds me of that little sketch in Family Guy where Brian refers to the role of a white man in any Spike Lee movie.
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:46, Reply)
@Al
I love to frottage. Seems we have something in common : )

@Rswipe - Oooo! I remember the days when all of Britain was covered knee deep in snow.
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:46, Reply)
I'm a little surprised
that The Wicca'd Witch would be doing that- she's posted in QOTW before and been quite nice.

*shrug* No matter. I don't bother with /talk anyway, as it's not something I enjoy.
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:49, Reply)
Just had a look
at /talk. Those are some scary people.

*shivers*

*wriggles closer to the QOTW guys*
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:51, Reply)
^Agrees
They always seem quite nice when I read their profiles or post on qotw.
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:51, Reply)
Er al?
Have you seen my loofah?
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:57, Reply)
/Talk WTF
Why are that lot a bunch of dickheads?

I did read it for a bit, but it's far more interesting over here with the QOTW peeps.
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 15:58, Reply)
I think I definitely belong with the older b3ta generation
as I find myself saying "eee, that /talkboard moves too quickly for the likesa me to keep up, I cannae tell who's insulting who!"
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 16:00, Reply)
Che
you might want to rinse that with Dettol ....
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 16:00, Reply)
I've posted on

Guess I'm just better than you old folks...

No al,
that's a cucumber. And well you know it.

Hang on, or is it a courgette - hard to see with all those suds everywhere.

@Kaol
They just recognise a fellow homicidal maniac when they see one.

You're always holding me back, Mum.
*sulks*
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 16:07, Reply)
@Kaol
Just you wait till we meet. I will be spitting on a tissue and wiping your face and telling you to get that gunk out of your hair and complaining because you wear black all the time.

Right I'm off home.

See you all later.
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 16:10, Reply)
Bye!
*waves*
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 16:10, Reply)
BGB, make sure you put the heating on when you get home
I know it's expensive, but you old folk are vulnerable. And don't eat the catfood.
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 16:11, Reply)
^
*laughs*

*hopes BGB doesn't hear*
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 16:12, Reply)
I think
it's a matter of age, really- the more sedate QOTW tends to attract older posters and people who like literate answers and exchanges of ideas. /talk is a gossip board that was an offshoot of the main board to keep the chatter in there to a minimum. It attracts the kids who like to show how funny and tough they are with their quick insults, which makes it like hanging with a mob of 15-year-olds.

I'll stay out of there, thanks. I'm a bit past that phase of life.
(, Wed 2 Jul 2008, 16:14, Reply)
OK, night all
