MUSTARD, something acidic and not too sweet, dijon kind of thing, mixed in with the mayo.
And yes PICKLES, straight-up sour dill normally, cut up into little cubes and mixed right in with the salad. You're aiming to probably get one little piece in every bite, no more than that.
