you said hoosier which made me think about the Hoosier Hot Shots and then I found out that John Lithgow did a version of their song "I Like Bananas (Because They Have No Bones)" and I was looking for that but I could only find "From the Indies to the Andes in his Undies" which was on his last kids album from 2006 which has the song "You Gotta Have Pep" but I kept looking for his version of "I Like Bananas", found it on the arranger's web site (J. Walter Hawkes), seems it wasn't released but here it is, some pretty faithful slide whistle and slightly unhinged vocals:
