I am a musician and belong to a number of online groups--one of which is occupied by a lot of accordionists. I am a keyboardist, but have never really wrapped my heart around accordions. Not sure why.

you're right, smooth jazz doesn't hit it for me - hot jazz yes, and sometimes free jazz..
but I do respect the MIDI.
