I would go so far as to project that I would believe that to be a significant part of the relationship that people value when employing Sony by buying their service.
Thus if Sony fail to keep out hackers, then it is Sony's failing, and they are to be blamed for that failing.

If I was one of the people who had had their data nicked, I may well be tempted to describe it as Sony "giving" it away.

"blaming sony is like telling a rape victim she was asking for it"
Which is disingenuous at best.

a) are you having a polite conversation?
or b) are you just dragging this out because you have something against me (as you seem to keep doing this when I dare to speak on this site)?
I wasn't being disingenuous, I genuinely believe that people are levelling their blame at the wrong place and stupidly dared to comment on it which is obviously worse than thread deletion and spam. Sony did not simply give away information, they did not stand out on a street randomly handing it out to strangers. And they did not ask to be targeted in the same way a rape victim does not ask to be raped.
Are you saying a rape victim is to blame for not carrying a gun to defend themselves? or that they "gave away" a sexual liaison?

I honestly think Sony need to kiss everyones arse over this not just the + owners, free stuff all round

but it's an annoyance to change the password.
just hope it isn't worse than that and card details have remained safe as they are currently officially saying.
