
Another tip is to try to select an image that's a similar resolution to the one you're pasting into, then it won't look so blurry.
Or use the 'sharpen' tool, but that can only go so far.

when you say "soft edged eraser" do you mean the blur tool?

What is meant by a soft edge earser is, click on the easer tool, and then select a soft edged brush, I don;t know how to do this in gimp, but it might be right click the properties of the brush and select of there maybe options in the toolbar once you have selected eraser...
Any gimp users here know how to do it?
