#
And there's lots of girls beside,
I should like to be beside
Beside the seaside!
Beside the sea!

# Hey!
Lighten up, I'm having a right old knees-up here and no mistake!

# Glad to hear it.
Looks like I will indeed be in the geographical area where we'll be able to have a pint or two, btw.

# Oh, jolly good,
look forward to it. Are you back at w*rk yet?
(, Sun 19 Jun 2011, 2:01, archived)
# Of course not.
The medics are upping the drugs weekly, though, so it's only a matter of time before my will is broken.
In the meantime, my only worry is a bailiff who's going to harrass my parents on Monday unless I can find a substantial three-figure sum.
It is a worry, but I think it can be done.

# I just got another 3 month contract, so I'm definitely employed till early October.
Not bad considering I don't fully understand most of the tasks I have been given.

# Understanding one's own job is grossly overrated.
We live under a bullshit-based idea of an economy.

# I described the nature of my work as 'nebulous' to my boss.
He agreed and said it was a rather excellent word.
(, Sun 19 Jun 2011, 2:34, archived)
# haha, I've deployed the "nebulous" gambit more than once.
Ever used the "George Harrison"?
I used it yesterday when I was talking to my mum.
She was saying stuff like "I don't like it when you're like this. I'd like to see the real you".
George Harrison wrote and recorded many songs, and the keynote, despite his much-vaunted spirituality, was a vituperative bitterness.
However, he also wrote a handful of sweet love songs, that expressed a gratitude for being alive.
Even Beatleologists say "At last! The real George!" www.youtube.com/watch?v=3XFfUt7HQWM when they address these few sweet tunes, but they're ignoring a lot when they do so.

# Interesting,
but how exactly would one employ the 'george harrison'?
It sounds as though your mum was maybe playing the george card.
edit: what were you doing anyway, wearing camouflage?
(, Sun 19 Jun 2011, 2:59, archived)
# One deploys the "George Harrison" when one is told the miserable "you" isn't the real "you".
And yeah, mum's reaction was one of sheer bafflement.
(, Sun 19 Jun 2011, 3:12, archived)
# The pattern might go like this...
Mum: [Nonsensical self imposed conundrum]
You: GEORGE HARRISON, BITCH!!!! [snap fingers]

I am mortified.

# Ye men that will of aunters wynne,

Of on I will yow telle;
And of a sewe that was sea strang,
Alas! that ever scho lived sea lang,
For fell folk did scho wele.

The grizeliest beast that ere mote bee
Her hede was greate and graye;

Ther war few that thither yoode,
But cam belive awaye.

Was no barne that colde her byde,

That ever durst com in her syght,
Her force it was sea felle.

Raphe of Rokebye, with full gode wyll,
The freers of Richmonde gav her tyll,
Full wele to gar thayme fare;
Freer Myddeltone by name,
Hee was sent to fetch her hame,
Yt rewed him syne full sare.

# All together now:
Roll out the barrel,
We'll have a barrel of fun
Roll out the barrel,
We've got the blues on the run
Sing boom tararrel,
Ring out a song of good cheer
Now's the time to roll the barrel,
For the gang's all here.

# All the maids of Islington
Went forth to sport and play;
All but the bailiff’s daughter dear;
She secretly stole away.

She put off her gown of gray,
And put on her puggish attire;
She’s up to fair London gone,
Her true-love to require.

As she went along the road,
The weather being hot and dry,
There was she aware of her true-love,
At length came riding by.

She stept to him, as red as any rose,
And took him by the bridle-ring:
‘I pray you, kind sir, give me one penny,
To ease my weary limb.’

--And then he rode off yelling, "It's a trap!"
(, Sun 19 Jun 2011, 2:00, archived)
# haha
this 'it's a trap' thing - is it new? I only heard it for the first time the other day.

# Old meme is old.
Actually predates itself. Was used in dime porn
novels. Faded and then resurged or reinvented
via Fark/4chan/SA and the like.
