1. Gangsters (who missed out on the last two) wanted to be part of a contemporary Brixton riot, so they could feel morally superior when compared against the still somewhat racist police, who keep trying to stop them shooting one another.
2. Violence spreads to other cities with similarly disgruntled criminals, in imitation of 1981 (which might have been more justified, I dunno, I was 4).
3. This time there was twitter and facebook and text messages, and everybody else piled on unscrupulously for amusement, because that's what we do now.
