Ah, back in the days when pixel tankers used to stream in convoy across the Atlantic, running the gauntlet of U-boats and Focke-Wulf Condors, assisted only by a rag-tag escort of corvettes that would roll on wet grass, let alone a mid-Atlantic swell. Pixel tanker crews were amongst the hardest - the pixels were printed onto highly-flammable celluoid and a torpedo could send the whole lot up, leaving very little to pick up out of the water, but time and again, they'd dry themselves off in port and sign up for the next convoy.
