I guess I'm talking genre
I used to play keys in jazz and R&B bands for years. I still create originals on occasion in my little studio, and create backing tracks for other musicians to use for various purposes. I get paid for those, but it's not a very good per-hour return, if you know what I mean.

I'm kind of all over the place.
if pressed for a point of reference I would say Zoogz Rift, or Soul Coughing..
but when I reach for the acoustic it's usually in the Kristin Hersh / Frank Black / Jon Fratelli line of things

I wasn't around for that.
I'm still feeling kind of left out to be honest.

I think I heard a rap version of this.
It was a woman, she was saying stuff like, "your call is important to us, please continue to hold for the next available representative".

does that mean you think it sounds like please-hold or elevator music?
If so, I agree in a way, but it's mine and not everyone can do it :)
ed: of course I did not expect an answer. You are rather predictable that way.
