they sent me home because the surgeon was ill. they waited until i'd had all my pre-op checks done first, of course, just to waste a bit more of my time.

and not such an odd ball theory. John Allegro wrote a book about it (one of the team put together to investigate the dead sea scrolls. needless to say they didn't like what he found out..allegedly ;)). Think there's still a free PDF version knocking around somewhere

While I like the thought of the first Christians being off their heads all the time on fly agaric and marijuana, I think his work was deemed to be less academically rigorous than it could have been, shall we say.
I bet there's more than a grain of truth in it, though...
