I actually loved Event HorizonFirst watched it with my flatmate - also a theoretical physicist - and her boyfriend, something like 9 years back. Her boyfriend got quite irritated with us mocking the whole setup, but that didn't stop me loving it.

damn straighti find that criticising the wonky physics in these things adds to my enjoyment of them, rather than detracting. i ahve, however, learned not to do this with someone else around because it does tend to piss them off a bit.
