Wouldn't work. They'd chew their foot off and then put their leg down again - back on the sticky trap.
They would keep trying and by the morning there would be a little legless bug which you might find more appealing.

Haha, I used to ponce about trying to pluck up the courage,
But learnt that while doing so they escape, which means a night of total anxiety, jumping on them bare handed is very unpleasant indeed, but from seeing it to killing it with your bare hand is only 20 seconds of fear and revoltion, folowed by relief anf joy a minute later when you wash your hands:-)
