So in theory a packet of peanuts should not contain any nuts at all.
The machines used to sort and pack the peanuts may have been used to sort nuts, so there may be traces of nuts in a packet of peanuts.
The warning is not as stupid as it sounds.
An allergy to nuts doesn't mean you're allergic to peanuts and an allergy to peanuts doesn't mean you're allergic to nuts.
