A friend of mine who works fixing computers recently taught an elderly client to use it, and in about ten minutes they had managed to order all their shopping from Tesco. I think it's probably just a learning curve, and maybe they shouldn't have called it windows.
I'm looking forward to playing about with it when I get my new laptop in a few days.

...if the elderly client had not been forced to use their glossy malfunctioning tablet as a heliographic sender to morse their order to the local Tesco Metro wireless solar telegraph receiving station.

quite scary :(
edit: i think it's short sighted to assume people are not clever enough to learn to use even just a slightly more complex interface. also getting everything delivered isn't the same as getting out & about for helping elderly people to socialise, stay well & actively mobile.
& then on the other end of the scale there's a whole bunch of kids who just don't understand how this stuff works...
