
but I thought the story came from an old Chinese story, where the shoes were gold, then they got changed to fur in a newer version and then to glass in a newer version? Who the hell would wear glass high heels?? Squirrel shoes makes much more sense?

gold and glass don't really seem the most ideal.
the fact mice can turn into horses and carriages into pumpkins are as normal as the day is wide, but gold shoes? daft.
