# me too
When you think about it, it's odd how 8-bit computers seem so nostalgic now.

I recently resurrected a 3D noughts and crosses game that used to run on the computer at school. Some day when I find the time I'll see if I can get it running online.

# I have ... but 1 meter away from me
My very first computer: ZX81 - rescued from my deceased parents loft. this will one day also be online.

2 meters through the wall to my front is an Intel laptop running windows 3.0 which I need a PCMCIA(1) ethernet card for... or serial to ethernet adapter with 16 bit drivers ;)

# I had one of those
Might still be in an attic somewhere, but I don't think it works any more.

Back at my folks I have a Spectrum +2A. The original actually Sinclair 48K has died :( So, I think, has the DKTronics plastic-key shell we bought to make it a dimly pleasant computer to type on. I do have a massive load of tapes that are probably now all dead.

# Fuck me
Great link.!

It's INSANE what they did with that hardware; that site alone shows the evolution of programming from simple*, advanced, extreme** and honed.

* wanted to used the word basic
** not meaning the type of development

# The only game which I've ever been completely captivated by is Chuckie Egg on the BBC Micro.
Do you know of a faithful reproduction of it for Windows? I couldn't see it on your link.

# there's a couple of chuckie egg remakes listed here
www.worldofspectrum.org/remakes.cgi

no idea if they're any cop but they're worth checking out, at least

or there's this: www.repton3.co.uk/chuckieegg.php

# Thank you Mr. the spider.
I'l have a go and hopefully I'll get in touch with my 12 year old self - [insert joke right here]

# no problem
only issue might be it's not totally trivial to play it without being online. i've never played chuckie egg before. i got to the second screen. i think i should hand in my geek badge and crawl beneath a bridge or something.

# In 1983 I got to level 23 without being online, 20 years later I'm online for >50% of my waking hours.
I'll happily endorse any geek badge you need endorsing.

# Good :)
I also found a remake of Chaos online that works remarkably well. If you were a BBC owner you'll have missed out on the glories of Chaos. It was glorious. www.vectorlight.net/games/chaos_tournament.aspx

# fuck me!

i think there's still more in worldofspectrum.org but there you have to download and run off a local emulator. plus i may be wrong anyway, there's a shitload there

# The first thought
that popped into my head when I read this story earlier today:

was a certain Melbourne House Speccy game.
Aaahhh...
