I hate those faux "science behind the show" shows...

Surely using a popular (sci-fi) show as a jumping off point to introduce some genuine science
would be a good thing? Even if it's only debunking what happens in the show, it'd be broadening minds.

I like science, but having a friend who was CONVINCED his Star Trek the next generation technical manual where actual BLUE PRINTS to build the ship (and that it would work) turned me off the whole scifi/science thing!
